The conference will focus on the social, cultural, political, geopolitical, and economic contexts in which Indigenous Peoples engage in education. The conference is organized by the Native Faculty in the College of Education at the University of New Mexico.

About the Conference

The inaugural Indigenous Education Research Conference began in 2016. It originates from a course developed by Dr. Glenabah Martinez in the mid- 1990s for UNM’s Native American Studies curriculum. Similar to the course, the longstanding goal of the conference will focus on the social, cultural, political, geopolitical, and economic contexts in which Indigenous Peoples engage in education. We invite all to partake in thought-provoking panels, papers, and posters that interrogate power as both a proactive and reactive element in sites where Indigenous Peoples engage in education.
