2018 marks the 150th anniversary of the birth of W.E.B. Du Bois and the 50th anniversary of the death of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.  Clark Atlanta University will memorialize the occasion by holding A Symposium Examining Race and Economic Inequality on the 150th Anniversary of the Birth of W.E.B. Du Bois and the 50th Anniversary of the Assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. (hereinafter “Symposium”) on February 22-23, 2018.  

This Symposium provides a place for academic expressions in a critical vein, which challenge dominate Eurocentric understandings of our history, our present, and our future. 

The Symposium is generously supported by the Russell Sage Foundation and the Fund for the Advancement of the Discipline, which is supported by the American Sociological Association and the National Science Foundation.
